Wasaka Stadium

A stadium proposal integrating sports infrastructure and urban water resilience.

Wasaka Stadium is a design proposal for a major sports facility in Banjarmasin, the capital of South Kalimantan. Conceived beyond its role as an athletic venue, the project positions the stadium as part of the city’s broader urban and environmental infrastructure.

The proposal integrates the stadium with a water reservoir system, responding to Banjarmasin’s hydrological context and the increasing need for urban water management. By combining sports facilities with water resilience functions, the project explores how large-scale public buildings can contribute to environmental performance while supporting civic and cultural life.

As a design-led proposal, Wasaka Stadium reflects an approach where architecture operates at the intersection of public space, infrastructure, and ecological responsibility. The project presents an alternative vision for stadium development, where civic programs are aligned with long-term urban resilience and environmental adaptation.
